How to stay on track

How to stay on track

How many of you feel you do really well with fitness and healthy eating Monday to Friday but then the weekend comes and it all goes off track so you end up starting again (AGAIN) Monday.

Im betting you feel rubbish Sunday night, you feel bloated, you feel guilty, you are fed up of starting over and over again.

I have been there. I was there for a really long time and it took time to change. It took baby steps in other areas of my life. Here are 5 tips to keep you on track:

  1. Drink water – its easier to drink water during the week because we are following a routine. Water will keep you hydrated and help flush out toxins so you will feel better, you will feel fuller and your body will just work better so if you do eat off plan, you wont feel as bad.
  2. Self love – the more you practice self love, the more your health and fitness choices will become a habit. Even self love affirmations every day will help. Once you are pouring self love into your life you will begin to eat and move in a way that is good for your body. You may still want to eat off plan BUT you may eat less of that food, you will notice how you feel after eating it and you will start to change.
  3. Move your body – even if you dont do a full workout, aim to move your body. If you eat a massive off track meal followed by a huge pudding and a late night snack so wake up feeling rubbish and guilty then still move. You may not feel like it but a short walk will get you back on track.
  4. Think about what “cheat” food you like the most and make a healthier altnerative. If you go from an attitude of restriction to an attitude of permission your eating will change. Focusing on your favourite food and not just grouping all not so healthy food together into the “not allowed” group will help you make healthier more thoughtful choices.
  5. Let go of the guilt – if you eat something off track leave it at that and get back on track for your next meal. Dont think that you may as well eat all the food in the house until Monday.

I hope these tips help. Keep an eye out for more healthy cakes and snack recipes coming soon.
