Beachbody 21 Day Fix Review

I did it! I have completed the Beachbody 21 Day Fix. For those of you who have not heard of the Beachbody products check them out. They are the creators of Insanity, P90x and much, much more.

The 21 Day Fix includes meal guide and workout dvds with the amazing Autumn Calabrese. I have struggled with fitness meal plans in the past as they are very meat based and quite restrictive but I found this one so useful. You get a guide book and some coloured containers. Each container represents a food group (fruit, protein, veg, carbs….) You start by working out how many of each colour you need for any one day (based on how many calories you need) then when you plan your meals for the day you just use the containers for portion control – it really is that simple. The guide lists so many options within each category so you really can’t go wrong. There’s even an app so you can track your colours as you use up your allowance.

Now to the workouts. For those of you who know me, you will know I suffer from migraines and even when I don’t have an actual migraine, I have days where I lack energy or my head doesn’t feel right so I don’t want to do much in case it triggers a full on migraine. Exercise that is too intense has also exhausted me so much in the past my migraines also got worse. This didn’t stop me at all during the 21 days. I was looking forward to the parcel arriving so much but the day it arrived typically I had a headache. I knew it wasn’t one my usual migraines so I decided I would try the first work out anyway and I survived. This gave me motivation for the other days when I may usually have skipped a day. If I can complete 21 days of exercise in a row, hopefully this will inspire you to try too.

The DVDs contain 8 work outs, 7 are 30 mins, one for each day of the week, plus a 10 minute abs which you can do in addition to any of the other workouts. 30 minutes is perfect if you are busy and don’t have much time to exercise but trust me – you will feel it in this short time. Within each workout there are rounds (usually 4). Each round is divided into 1 min exercises with a 20 second break in between. One of Autumn’s sayings is that “you can do anything for 1 minute” – this is so true and kept me going but just 1 minute will make you work.

I didn’t take before and after pictures and didn’t take measurements. I don’t have much weight to lose so I haven’t seen the results that many people have following the programme but I have toned up so much. I can see more definition in my abs, arms and legs. More importantly to me though, I feel strong and I feel good. I am so proud that on the days I wanted to have a day off that I kept going and I am proud that I gave each work out my all. I will be repeating the programme straight away and taking before and after pictures this time so I will keep you posted in another 21 days.

If you are thinking about buying this programme but have some questions, I am happy to help in any way I can.
